Christopher Michael Hicks

Funeral services for Christopher Michael Hicks, 20, of Frankston, were held Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Frankston with the Rev. Brooks Morton and the Rev. Scott Wylie officiating.


Burial was held at Bullard Cemetery.


Mr. Hicks passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 in Centerville.


He died from injuries from a head-on collision.


He was born March 12, 1991, in Gainesville, Ga.


Mr. Hicks was a member of First Baptist Church, Frankston and worked at Academy in Tyler.


He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ollie Henry Hicks and Willie Mae Thomas Hicks.


Survivors include parents Diane and Michael Hicks of Frankston; sister Kelley Hicks of Frankston; nephews Matthew Hicks of Frankston; uncle Talmadge (Buster) Hicks of Frankston; aunts Luan Smith and husband Reggie of Bullard and Tammie Flemming of Bullard; grandparents Charles and Connie Harris of Bullard; and numerous cousins.


Pallbearers were Taylor Morris, Mayson (Ray Ray) Skillern, Kolton Tate, Justin Bergstrom, Tyler Bergstrom, and Cody Rogers.


Honorary Pallbearers were the class of 2009

Ethel Annie Griffin

Memorial services for Ethel Annie Griffin, 94, were conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, at Anderson-Clayton Funeral Chapel in Kemp with Bro. Michael Griffin and Bro. J.A. Griffin officiating.


Burial was at Pyle Prairie Cemetery near Kemp.


Mrs. Griffin was born November 19, 1916 in Kaufman County and lived in that county most of her life.


She passed away on July 29 at the Frankston Health Care Center where she had been a resident for the past 12 years.


Her survivors include two nieces and a nephew, Doris Griffin, Belva Glaspy and J. A. Griffin all of Frankston.



Charlie Baker

Private memorial services for Charlie Baker, 49, Athens are planned for a later date.


Mr. Baker passed away on July 22, 2011, in Athens.


Charles Robert Baker was born September 23, 1961 in Houston. He worked as an electrician. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Green Little.


Survivors include his wife, Danna McKee-Baker, Athens; children Luke Baker, Natalie Baker and Kristy Treese; father, Coy Little of Frankston; brother, Ray Baker of Frankston; sisters, Vickie Redfern (Eric) and Kathy Moss (Jay) all of Frankston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Blanch Dodson

Funeral services for Blanch Dodson, 95, of Frankston, were held Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the chapel of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston with the Rev. James Starkes and the Rev. Scott Wylie officiating.


Burial was held at the Old Bethel Cemetery in Frankston.


She was born Sept. 13, 1915, to Frank Murphy and Carrie House Murphy. She was a seamstress and homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Frankston.


Mrs. Dodson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Woodrow Dodson, a daughter, Camilla Dodson and sisters.


She is survived by a daughter, Linda Watters and husband Jerry of Lake Palestine, a sister Pauline Coker and husband Jesse of Chandler, granddaughters DeAnn Condos and husband Glenn, Carol Woodman and husband Randall and great grandchildren Christopher, Caitlyn, and Caleb Woodman.


Pallbearers were Randall Woodman, Charlie Cain, Jackie Brandon, Clifford Williamson, Nathan Williamson and Charles Williamson. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Woodman and Caleb Woodman.


Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Frankston, First Baptist Church, Neches or Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, TX. 75701.


Amber Wheat

Graveside services for Amber Wheat, 28, of Frankston, were to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Poynor Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Foster officiating.


Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.


Ms. Wheat passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, in Athens.


She was born Nov. 13, 1982, in Garland.


Ms. Wheat was a Baptist and a certified nurse’s aide.


Survivors include parents Bruce and Rhonda Wheat of Frankston; son Kennisyn Wheat of Frankston; daughters Payton Calhoun of Frankston and Braidyn Wheat of Frankston; brother Lonnie Mitchell Jr. and wife Kayci of Prosper; grandmother Sue Vick of Poynor; and niece McKenna Mitchell.


Pallbearers were Mark Poston, Kevin Huckabee, Jimmy Wheat, Russell Vick, Ernie Smith and Rusty Poston.

Sheila Troy Ellis Schindler

Sheila Troy Ellis Schindler was born July 14, 1948, in Houston and died Aug. 16, 2011, at her home in Poynor.


Sheila was proceeded in death by her parents E. W. Ellis and Frances McDaniel Ellis; her son Howard James Schindler II (Jamie) and various beloved aunts, uncles and relatives who she loved dearly.


She is survived by her daughter Shanna Woods-Fleck and son-in-law Wayne Fleck and stepdaughter Julie Woods; son-in-law Joe Dickerson; granddaughters Jamie Woods and Brandi-Jo Dickerson; grandsons Hayden Dickerson and Jay Schindler; great granddaughter Ryver Christian; sisters Sharon Sowell and brother-in-law Tommy and Sandra Ellis; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved family and friends.


She lived her life always surrounded by many special friends, old and new.


Her life was full of many towns, cities and numerous adventures around the State of Texas including Houston, Sealy, Columbus and Poynor being her last residence.


Her talents were shown in various occupations she held throughout her life namely being wife, mother, caretaker, dancer, singer, waitress, remodeler and interior decorator.


She was a member of Country Chapel Church in Poynor.


She filled her time being with family, friends, singing, arts and crafts, and was truly dedicated to those she held close to her heart.


Leo Janowski

Leo Janowski, 83, of Frankston, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, in Frankston.


Graveside services for Mr. Janowski were held Sunday, August 21, at Cade Cemetery in Streetman, Texas.


Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.


Mr. Janowski was born on October 19, 1927 in Houston. He served our country in the Navy and he worked in Houston for the sheriff department for 18 years. He was also a Justice of the Peace for 8 years.


He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Janowski; daughters, Debbie Berry of Shreveport, La., and Bonna Wood of Pasadena, Texas; sons, Leo Robert Janowski Jr. of Spring, and James Leon Janowski of Magnolia; sister, Agnes Anthony of Cold Spring, sister-in-law, Notie Janowski of Cleveland, and cousin, Boots Janowski, of Baytown.



K. B. (Red) Weeks

Graveside services for K. B. “Red” Weeks, 91, of Frankston, were held Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the Olive Branch Cemetery in Frankston with the Rev. Randall Thornton officiating.


Mr. Weeks passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011, in Palestine.


He was born June 1, 1920 in Vernon, Texas. His father was John Weeks, mother’s name unknown.


Mr. Weeks was a laborer in the broom factory and was a Baptist.


He is survived by several nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ella Mae Weeks.
