Elections Results
Anderson County
Republican Anderson County Judge candidate Robert Johnston avoided a runoff election on Tuesday after winning the primary election with 57.4 per cent of the votes.
Johnston was running against Virginia (Gina) Votti who gathered 29.1 percent of the votes and Rafael Hernandez who received 13.5 per cent.
Johnston will go on to face the Democratic candidate Chris Kolstad in the November General Election. Kolstad was unopposed in the Democratic Party Primary election.
Johnston was nominated with 2,419 total votes compared to Votti’s 1,225 and Hernandez’s 568.
Henderson County
Henderson County Republican voters Tuesday chose Richard Sanders as their nominee for the county judge position.
Sanders won with 70.46 per cent of the votes with a total of 5,287.
His opponent, Charles Curtis, received 29.54 per cent of the vote with a total of 2,217.
With no Democrat running for the seat, Sanders will be unopposed in the November General Election.
Precinct 4 voters selected Kelly Harris to be the Republican candidate for Justice of the Peace Precinct 4.
Harris won with 65.18 per cent of the votes with a total of 410.
His opponent, Steve Gullekson, received 34.82 per cent of the votes with 219.
Harris will go on to face Democratic incumbent Sue Tarrant for the seat in November.
In the Henderson County District Clerk race GOP voters nominated Jean Godwin with 57.41 per cent of the vote with a total of 4,152 compared to Amiee Freeman’s 3,080. Freeman received 42.59 per cent of the vote.
According to the cumulative unofficial report released by the Henderson County Clerk’s office, voter turnout was 10.38 percent with 10,115 of 97,418 voters took part in the primary.
