Obituaries for Oct. 5, 2017

Larry Joe House


Larry Joe House, 79, passed away on Sept. 28, 2017, at East Texas Hospice Facility in Tyler, Texas. Larry was born March 15, 1938, in Malakoff, Texas, moving to Frankston as an infant where he was a life-long resident.


A colorful character, he had a quick wit and was always there to help others.


His dedication to Frankston was evident by the many things he did for his community, from mischievously parking a Studebaker pickup in the park gazebo to cutting out the first wooden Santa Claus for the Frankston Garden Club.


He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He retired as the water superintendent with the city of Frankston.


Larry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Anne Davis House of Frankston; his children, Jimmy Carl House and wife Crystal of Frankston; Cynthia Lynn Sabulsky and husband Chris of Frankston; Sherri Annette Caraway and husband Bruce of Magnolia, Texas; Chris Hamilton and wife Sare of Tyler; and Dustin Hamilton of Longview.


“Papaw” will be fondly remembered by his granchildren: Todd House, Dustin House and wife Brittny all of Frankston; Nathan Sabulsky of Euless; Erin Sabulsky of Frankston; Avery and Lauren Caraway both of Magnolia; Jake and Dillon Hamilton of Tyler.


Surviving brothers include James House and wife Imogene, George House and wife Mildred along with many nieces and nephews.


Larry was preceded in death by his parents Carl Joseph House, Nellie Ray Martin and Jimmy Clark Martin, and two sisters Nelda Folmar and Golda Dickerson.


A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston, Texas.


The family would like to request any donations be made to East Texas Hospice Facility, Tyler, Texas.


Doyle W. Miller


Doyle W. Miller passed away Sept. 17, 2017 at home in Frankston.

He was 86.


Miller was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Ranger, Texas to George Doyle and Ora Ellen.


A memorial and celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5073 in Frankston. Jerry Beard will officiate.


Miller was an over-the-road truck driver and a Teamster for 25 years.


He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


He is survived by his wife, Lela Miller; children Melinda Tutt, Pam Barker, Donna Gandy, Darla Barrett and Jeanne Smith; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.


Kenneth Wayne Holliman


A funeral service for Kenneth Wayne Holliman, 71, of Poynor, was held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with Bro. Roland Alsobrook officiating.

He was laid to rest in Poynor Cemetery. Mr. Holliman passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, in his home at Lake Atchee in Poynor, Texas.

Ken was born July 21, 1946, in Bell, California.Ken was known as an entrepreneur and a jack-of-all-trades.


He looked forward to the Milner reunion every 4th of July. He dearly loved his family. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing but his all-time favorite was flying.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elzie Holliman; stepfather, Brewer Atchison and a brother-in-law, Steve Cunningham. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Lois Atchison of Poynor; daughters, Tracy McIntyre and husband Wes of Brownsboro, Lana Dansby and husband Jon of Poynor, Darla Tobin and husband Chris of Poynor; and sisters, Susanne Alsobrook and husband Ray of Poynor and Gayle Cunningham of Channelview.


He is also survived by grandchildren Jessica, Amber, Ashley, Zach, Seth, Cassie, Vince, Natalie, Lynsie; great-grandchildren Will, BreAnna, Olivia, Brooklyn, Harlen, Camilla, Christian, Kynzlie and Mason; three nephews and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers were Wes McIntyre, Jon Dansby, Chris Tobin, Curtis Alsobrook, Roland Alsobrook and Ryan Alsobrook.

Honorary pallbearers were Ray Alsobrook, Joe Darrell Milner, Thomas Grayson, Sr. and Lloyd Hanks.


Patsy Scott


Patsy Scott, 70, of Frankston, passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, in Tyler. Patsy was born Nov. 17, 1946, in Vernon, Texas, to Andrew and Sylvia (Fox) Duffie.


She attended SFA and worked for Southwestern Bell. She is survived by her husband, Philip Scott of Frankston and brother, A.J. Duffie, Jr. of Vernon.


Virginia ‘Ginney’ Schirmer


Viginia “Ginney” D. Schirmer, 94, of Wahoo, Ne., formerly of Memphis and Ashland, Ne., died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo.


Ginney was born September 8, 1923, in Frankston to Leslie and Beulah Mae (Oliver) McDonald.


In 1943, Ginney was united in marriage to Harvey Schirmer in St. Louis, Mo.

Crappie fishing was one of her favorite hobbies.


She is survived by children, Harvey Schirmer, Jr. and wife Diane of Warner Robins, Ga.; Patsy Robert and husband Doyle of Mayetta, Kan.;

Donald Schirmer and wife Carol of Manhattan, Ill.; Robin Schirmer and wife Nancy of Surfside, S.C. and Peter Schirmer of Wahoo.

Grandchildren are Annemarie Schirmer; Angelynn Schirmer; Peter Schirmer, Jr.; Sherrie Swenson and husband Edward; Ginney Davidson and Sean Schirmer.

Great-grandchildren are Rachel Swenson and Sean Swenson; daughter-in-law Chrissy Schirmer; sister, Jeannette Clark of Baytown and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by husband Harvey Schirmer, Sr.; son, Herbert Schirmer and six siblings Jackie Hartmann, Isabelle McMillan, J.L. “Bud” McDonald, Troy McDonald, Joe McDonald and Ruth Jones.


Immediate family living in the Frankston area are nephew Roger McDonald and wife Kay; niece, Frieda Bussey and husband Richard and sister-in-law Opaline McDonald.


A graveside service was held Friday, September 22, at 2 p.m. at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Ne.. The Reverend Jeff Thurman officiated.

Doris Willbanks


A funeral service for Doris Willbanks, 87, of Frankston, was held Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. James Fleet officiating.


She was laid to rest at Frankston City Cemetery.


Mrs. Willbanks passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, in Tyler.Doris was born June 17, 1930, in Jacksonville to James Swinney and Opal (Baker) Calhoun.


She was a member of Lake Palestine Baptist Church.


Doris was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Arva Lee Ray, Jr.; husband, Bennie Willbanks and stepfather, Petty Calhoun.Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jackie Welsh and husband Jay, Linda Sevy and Frank Nieto, Liz Ray, Tommy Ray and Mariana Castelblanco, Alvin Willbanks and wife Jacquelyn, Calvin Willbanks and Elaine Fleet and husband Butch. She is also survived by her brothers and sister, David Calhoun, Ronnie Calhoun, Dimple Byron, Jimmy Swinney, Larry Swinney; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.


Pallbearers were Ronnie Calhoun, Joey Sevy, Mark Goodson, Randy Whitfield, Frank Nieto and Mike Whickliffe.

Richard ‘Ricky’ Erekson


A graveside service for Richard “Ricky” Erekson, 63, of Frankston, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Wofford Cemetery in Frankston with the Rev. Doug Baumgartner officiating.


Wofford Cemetery is located on County Road 307 east of Frankston off Hwy. 175.


Mr. Erekson passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, in Frankston.


Ricky was born July 30, 1954, to Richard J. and Joy (Higdon) Erekson.


Ricky worked for Mack’s Tire and Service Shop in Frankston for 30 years.


He went on to be a truck driver and in-home private caregiver.


He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Robert Mark Erekson.


Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Joy Erekson and stepfather, Mack Powell; a brother, Robbie Dee Erekson and wife Wanda of Frankston; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.



Wilburn Campbell


A graveside service for Wilburn Campbell, age 88, of Frankston, was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Frankston City Cemetery with Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating. Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.


Mr. Campbell passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 in Jacksonville.


Wiburn was born April 12, 1929 to Jesse and Dorothy (Norman) Campbell.


Wilburn served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean war. He retired from GE/Trane after 37 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Frankston.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tillie Campbell; brothers, Jessie Edward Campbell and Marshall William Campbell; and sister, Myrtle McAlister.


Left to cherish his memory are children, Wilburn Campbell, Jr., John William Campbell, Donald Gerald Campbell, Ronald Wayne Campbell, and Patricia Kay Wallace. He is also survived by a grandson, Johnathan Campbell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathrine ‘Kat’ Lackey


A funeral service for Kathrine “Kat” Lackey, 66, of Frankston, was held Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Chaplin Robert Stovall officiating.


Mrs. Lackey passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, in Tyler.Kat was born June 23, 1951, in Odessa, Texas.


She worked for East Texas Medical Center for over 15 years.


She was preceded in death by her father, Early “Gene” Gresham. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Jo Gresham of Athens; son, Gene Jones and wife Sandy of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; daughter, Brandis Hancock and husband Mike of Burleson; brothers, Ed Gresham and wife Dallas of Jacksonville, Carl Gresham and wife Dee of Rowlett; and sister Elizabeth Hart and husband Nat of Chandler.


She is also survived by eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
