Dot Barnett
Graveside services for Dot Barnett, 74, of Athens, are scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Post Oak Cemetery near Malakoff, officiated by Bro. Kevin Basham. Services are under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
Ms. Barnett passed away April 2, 2025, in Tyler.
She was an aunt of Jensy Bizzell of Frankston.
Dorothy (Dot) Durham Barnett was born Sept. 9, 1950, to Robert (Bob) Durham and Cecil (Scott) Durham in Athens. She was welcomed by her parents and six siblings who doted on her.
Dot graduated from Brownsboro High School in the class of 1969, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the Student Council and was a member of the Sisters of Sixty-nine. She worked for TXU for 30 years before retiring.
On Aug, 10, 1985, she married the love of her life, Tommy Barnett, and they soon built their dream home in Cross Roads and happily lived there until Tommy’s death in April 2017.
Dot loved decorating, antiquing, and gardening. She was well loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Dalton and Dent Durham and a sister Dale Slagle.
She is survived by a sister Dolly Grose of Tyler; brothers David Durham and wife Sharon of San Antonio, and Dink Durham and wife Ludene of Tyler; a sister-in-law Peggy Chapman of Tyler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to Post Oak Cemetery Malakoff.
The family would like to thank Hospice of East Texas for their kind and loving care of Dot in her last days.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family.

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Elaine Hoffman
Gwendolyn “Gwen” Hoffman, 88 years old, of Pensacola, FL, and formerly of Frankston, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Gwen was born on April 7, 1936, in Frankston. She was married to Billy Hoffman until his death. She was a devoted wife, daughter, aunt, great-aunt, and a great-great-aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Gwen always had a smile, big heart, listening ear, and great advice. She was a passionate cook.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents David green and Annie Mae Smith Clakley; sister, Dorothy Jean (William) Loftin and Catherine Laverne (Walton) Harper; brothers William Luke Clakley, Bobby Clakley and Billy David (Mary) Clakley Sr.; and brother-in-law, Neil Dark.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Evelyn Dark; and her brother, Louis Ray (Betty) Clakley.
A memorial service wa held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 751 Holsberry Place, Pensacola, FL, at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Frankston City Cemetery on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Jason Hoffman officiating. Local arragements are by Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Roger Dale McDonald
A funeral service for Roger Dale McDonald, age 80, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church Frankston with Sr. Pastor Scott Wiley officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before. He will be laid to rest at Frankston City Cemetery.
Roger was born on Nov. 16, 1944, to Joe Oliver and Fayrene (Weesner) McDonald in Frankston and went to be with his Lord and Saviour on April 23, 2025.
Roger has been a part of the Frankston community since birth in 1944 and married his devoted wife Kay in July of 1967. He spent many years as an architectural draftsman and pipeline superintendent/inspector for various oil and gas companies. He served the community of Frankston as a councilman and the William Foster Lodge #312. From 1961-1963 he served in the Naval Reserve and from 1963-1965 he served our country in Vietnam.
He loved playing the fiddle as well as caring for and restoring musical instruments of many kinds. He treasured his family and had fond memories of vacations with Kay in Ireland and Scotland. Roger said the greatest life lesson he could share would be: “Everyone can change bad habits with God’s help”. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Frankston
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother Larry Joe (Wine) McDonald; brother-in-law Mike Cook; and daughter-in-law Julie Brooks McDonald.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years Kay Cook McDonald; daughter Kimberly Dale; sons Keith David McDonald and Kevin Cook McDonald and wife Wendy; grandchildren Ashton Forester, Mason McDonald, Presley Morris and Lauren McDonald; great-grandchildren Harper JulieAnn Forester, Wilder Hayes Forester, Hazel JulieAnn McDonald, and Hagen McDonald; brother-in-law Pat Cook; sister-in-law Rilea Cook; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
Pallbearers will be David Bragg, Jack Hicks, Steve Hicks, Joe Hicks, Wade Cook, Trent Cook, Kent Billingsley, Joel McDonald and Grant McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Duane Ballard, Jimmy Boles, Britt Bacon, Billy (Dude) Bacon, Joe Dale Dickerson, Brooks Atwood, Don Fitzgerald, Vic Pfund, James Dickerson, Dan Wagoner, Roger House, Randy Whatley, Dick Moorehead, and Jesse Smith.

Sandra Jo Cook Gideon
Sandra Jo Cook Gideon, 87, of Frankston, entered eternal life on April 24, 2025.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Frankston with Pastor Scott Wiley officiating. She will be laid to rest at Frankston City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.
Sandra was born on Nov. 11, 1937, in Frankston, to Joe Dean and Lucille Bizzell Cook and went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2025, in Rogers, Arkansas.
For many years, Sandra worked for Frankston ISD in many departments including as a substitute teacher, a cook and custodian. She managed Candlewood Apartments in Frankston and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church.
Sandra was family-oriented and treasured moments spent with her loved ones. She was a skilled gardener and a wonderful cook. For years to come, there will be stories shared of her delicious meals, her shared secrets to growing a perfect garden and how there was no sewing task that she could not complete. She will be greatly missed, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
Sandra was preceded in death by father Joe Dean Cook; mother Lucille Bizzell Cook Boles; husband Wayne Gideon; great-grandson Emmett James Rivers; father-in-law Joe Gideon and mother-in-law Ila Mae Gideon.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Pat Maley and husband Tim of Conroe, Gail Feagans and husband Brad of Rogers, AR, and David Gideon and wife Sonia of Frankston. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Lindsey (Scooter), Kellie (Dru), Nancee (Rich), Brandon (Stacey), Mavi (Joel), Amanda (James) and Shanni (Cameron). Her 14 grandchildren are Quentin, Lawson, Gracie, Layla, Johnny, Bailey, Ellie, Mollie, Dax, Alden, Emory, Oliver, Mia and Titus.
Pallbearers will be David Gideon, Tim Maley, Brad Feagans, Brandon Feagans, Scooter Keeter, Rich Howard, Dru Dunlap and James Rivers.
Honorary pallbearers are the nursing and CNA staff of Innisfree Nursing and Rehab in Rogers, Arkansas.

Frances Ann Powell West
Frances Ann Powell West, 88, of Frankston, passed away on April 25, 2025.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston with Bro. George Folmar officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.
Frances was born on Jan. 27,1937, in Huntington, West Viriginia, to Luther and Ercie Powell.
A devoted servant of God, Frances lived her life in unwavering dedication to her church, Lighthouse Baptist Church, a place she considered her heavenly home on earth. Her hands, ever faithful to her calling, graced the piano keys with nothing but gospel music, filling hearts with joy and stirring souls with every melody. If you had the privilege of hearing her play, the memory stayed with you, a testament to the power of her music and the depth of her devotion.
When she wasn’t sharing her music, Frances found joy in the quiet art of crocheting, crafting delicate gifts that carried not only warmth but the love and care she poured into them. Each stitch reflected her kindness, a tangible reminder of the grace she shared with others.
Frances leaves behind a lifetime of faith, music, and selfless love, treasures that will continue to echo in the hearts of those who knew her. While she may no longer sit at the piano, her melodies will never fade and her gifts will remain. She will be deeply missed
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Virgil West; sons Matt and Michael West; granddaughter Megan West; and grandson, Clayton West.
Left to cherish Frances’ memory are her son Mark West and wife, Kerri; grandchildren Jackie Kelley and husband Lee, Toni King and Colt West; and great-grandchildren Kaylin and Oakley Kelley.
