Billie Jack Rogers

Funeral services for Billie Jack Rogers, 94 of Frankston, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Bailey & Foster Chapel in Palestine with the Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Billie Jack Rogers

1926-2021

Mr. Rogers passed away at his home, Monday, March 1, 2021. He was born Nov. 21, 1926 to Clint and Carrie Lade Rogers in Pert, Texas.

Mr. Rogers is survived by his children: Carrie Button, Kenneth Rogers and Jerry Rogers & wife Jayle; grandchildren: John Lance Button, Bryan Ashley Button, Carla Elaine Button Scalapino, Sarah Johnston, Chandra Lee Rogers, Billy Wade Rogers & wife Laura and Jerry Blake Rogers; great-grand kids: Carly Button, Peyton Button, Amber Scalapino, John Scalapino, Matthew Scalapino, Rachel Assolin, Ryan Assolin, Nathan Rogers, Garrett Johnston, Lyla Johnston, Madison Rogers, Grayson Rogers, Alexia Rogers, Tyler Rogers and Jordyn Rogers; great-great grandkids: Jacob and Zane; sisters: Dorothy Henderson and Mary Rogers; sisters-in-law: Lynn Rogers, Sue Toups and Joyce Wedgeworth.

Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents Clint & Carrie Lade Rogers; his wife Geraldine Wedgeworth Rogers; brothers: Harold Eugene (Gene) Rogers, Wilborn Rogers, and Robert Prince Rogers; grandchildren: Angel, Shawn, and Curt Allen Rogers; and great grandson Cole Rogers.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 one hour prior to the service at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Palestine.


 James Johnston

Funeral services for James Johnston, 71, of Palestine, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with services led by Bro. Justin Palmer. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

James Edward Johnston passed away peacefully March 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his family and friends. 

James Edward Johnston

1949-2021

James Johnston was born Oct. 22, 1949 in Anderson County to William Morris and Bertie Lou Johnston. James was married for 49 years to the love of his life, Wanda Harris Johnston. James was the pastor at Midway Baptist Church in Brushy Creek for the last 20 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969-1971 and in the Vietnam war.

James retired from LaPoynor ISD after 26 years as the maintenance and transportation director. He owned his own business, Johnston Heat and Refrigeration, for over 15 years. James was a hardworking man who served Jesus all his life. While he accomplished many things, his greatest accomplishment was the many people he led to Jesus throughout his life. James’ education included attending LaPoynor High School, receiving a military GED, followed by an Associates degree from TVCC. He then went on to further his education through extension classes at Texas A&M University. 

James loved 'coon hunting, fishing, playing with his dogs, spending time with his grandchildren and traveling the country with his family. On his trips, his favorite thing to do was finding pawnshops and delicious places to eat along the way. He was an avid coin, knife and firearms collector. James played an instrumental part in his youngest son’s business, Back 40 Firearms, in Athens and loved researching older model firearms. 

James is preceded in death by his parents; sister Anabelle Johnston; brothers both Tom and Bob Johnston; nephew Bubba Johnston; and four brother-in-laws Marvin Hall, Nute Eaton, Truman Perkins, and Ronny Harris; and his most cherished side-kick Freeway. 

Survivors include wife, Wanda Johnston; sons Ryan Johnston and Ben Johnston and wife Michelle; daughter Ashley Tiner and husband Larry; brothers and sisters Mary Hall, Francis Eaton, Glenda Ballard and husband Jimmy, Betti Reid, Billy Johnston and wife Brenda Ann, Brenda Sue Richardson and husband Steve, Dave Johnston and wife Karen, and Barney Johnston and wife Dionne; sister-in-laws Pat Johnston, Gaylnn Johnston Wilbanks and husband Randy, Jeline Perkins, Linda Harris, and Joy Green; brother-in-law Jerry Harris and wife Georgia; grandchildren Whitney Johnston McClure and husband Kurt, MaKayla Owens and husband Ethan, Samantha Tiner, MaKenzie Skiles, Tatum Johnston, Jaxon Johnston, and Darryl James Johnston (DJ); great-grandsons Lyle and Winston Owens; as well as a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends whom he loved. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Palmer, Jeff Grubbs, Jason Fortner, Kris Johnston, Luke Richardson, and Edward Palmer. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Richardson, Randy Wilbanks, David Stewart, Ronnie Hambrick, Tommy Hilton and Jon Ray Hilton. 

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the team at Harbor Hospice and especially his precious nurse, Cemoe.

Kay Margaret (Reynolds) Gouger

Kay Margaret (Reynolds) Gouger was born June 17, 1935 and entered eternal life on March 9, 2021. She was 85 years old.

A funeral service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Frankston. A visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. to noon. She will be laid to rest at Frankston City Cemetery. 

Kay was a member of Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary and Shriner Auxiliary. She worked for Frankston First State Bank. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Lois Reynolds; and a brother, Jimmy Reynolds. 

She is survived by husband, James Gouger of Frankston; daughters, Margaret Carr and husband Tommy, Donna Richardson and husband J.M, all of Frankston; and sister, Dorothy “Dot” Marsters of Palestine. She is also survived by grandchildren, David Richardson and wife Erin, Chris Carr and wife Jennifer, Cindi Carr and Lee Richardson; 11 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Brady, Jaiden, Kenzie, Kelsey, Jacey, Ashlyn, Austin, Jack, Justyce and Maverick. 

Pallbearers will be David Richardson, Chris Carr, Taylor Carr, Brady Richardson, Jaiden Dillard and Jack Marshall. Honorary pallbearers are J. M. Richardson, Tommy Carr, Austin Carr and Maverick Richardson.


Barbara (Crow) Williamson

1939-2021

Barbara (Crow) Williamson was born Feb. 27, 1939 and entered eternal life on March 9, 2021. She was 82 years old. 

A memorial service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021 at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston. Michael Paul Slayton and Blake Dover will officiate. 

Barbara loved traveling and dancing. She enjoyed decorating her home and was a fantastic hostess. She adored her family and will be greatly missed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Crow and Nellie (Hall) Crow and brother, J.D. Crow Jr. 

Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years, Clifford Williamson of Frankston; daughters, Ginger Featherston and husband Ricky of Ben Wheeler and Lisa Merritt of Ferris; sons, Paul Merritt of Flint, Craig Williamson of Seagoville and Trent Williamson of Bullard. Her seven grandchildren are Heather Slayton, Patrick Featherston, Joshua Slayton, Michael Slayton, David Featherston, Anthony Williamson and Joshua Merritt. Her siblings are Wanda Rankin of Seguin, Margie Hood and husband Bobby of Rowlett, Jimmy Crow of Ennis, Elizabeth Hickman and husband Winston of Sachse and Patricia Wilson of Rowlett. She is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Granville Mark “Bubba” Billingsley

Bubba Billingsley was born March 8, 1951 and entered eternal life on March 13, 2021. He was 70 years old. 

A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Frankston City Cemetery. Bro. George Folmar will officiate. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home. 

Bubba was a Christian man; he was a cattle buyer and he also drove a truck for a living. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Granville Marsh “Red” and Jean (Westbrook) Billingsley, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. 

He is survived by his dog Molly B; his siblings are Marsha Billingsley, Joel Kent Billingsley and wife Cameron and Clay Billingsley; niece, Caroline Billingsley; and his aunt Reba Billingsley Hicks, all of Frankston. He is also survived by his numerous cousins.

Robert “Robby” Clary

Robert “Robby” Clary

Robert “Robby” Clary was born Sept. 25, 1978 and entered eternal life on March 20, 2021. He was 42 years old. 

A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston. Rev. Larry Dunn will officiate. 

Visitation will begin on Monday, March 29, 2021 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Robby’s family from 6 to 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston. 

He was preceded in death by father, Gene Clary and stepfather, Mike Linton. 

Left to cherish Robby’s memory are his wife, Nicci Clary of Frankston; mother, Mary Clary of Kilgore; sons, Nicholas Peterson and Christopher Clary, both of Kilgore; daughters, Chloe Montrose and Kala Clary, both of Frankston and sister, Cindy Marmon and husband John of Monett, MO. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Luan Montrose of Frankston; grandmother, Barbara Allen of Bon Weir; brother-in-law, John Montrose and wife Deanna of LaRue; sister-in-law Becky Iglesias and husband Julio of Duncanville; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Judy Kaye Hughes

Mrs. Judy Kaye Hughes, formerly of Frankston, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. She was born on Nov 26, 1945 to Marvin L. Camp Sr. and Katy M. Wendel Camp in Athens.

Judy was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), aunt and homemaker. She worked as manager for Perry Brothers and at Austin Bank in Frankston before retiring in 2010. 

 Judy was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Linda Faye Johnson; husband Donald Gene Hughes Sr. and daughter Mary Kay Mathis.

Judy is survived by son, Donald (Donnie) Gene Hughes Jr. of  Concord, New Hampshire; grandchildren Erin and Erik Mathis of Eastland, Texas, Heather Hughes of Texas City; brother Marvin L. Camp Jr. and wife Sharon Camp of Kilgore; brother-in-law Gerald Hughes and wife Jolene of LaGrange, and nieces, nephews and a large group of cousins and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held in the near future at Hilltop Baptist Church in Frankston. Donations may be made to a church or charity of your choice.
