Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Gene Hawkins

Funeral services for Gene Hawkins, 65, of Frankston, were held Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Burial followed in Wofford Cemetery.

Mr. Hawkins passed away at Home Place in Tyler on Friday, Nov. 24, 2011.

He was born April 9, 1946 in Purcell, Okla. to William O. and Maggie Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a truck driver.

He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Skylar Hawkins; sister Margaret Followwill; brothers Sonny and Tex Hawkins; and sister-in-law Beth Benjamin.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife Helen Jean Hawkins; sons Tommy Hawkins and wife Carmella of Jacksonville, John Hawkins and wife Lori of Frankston, Allan Hawkins and wife Necie of Jacksonville; and daughter Kathi Rendon of Frankston. Also surviving family members, Patsy Henderson and husband Bill; Ruth Cowger, Major Followwill, Alvey Lee Fuller and Sharon Martin; grandchildren Jason Hawkins, Justin Hawkins, Ryan Hawkins, Amy Hawkins Jones, Layne Hawkins, Clint Hawkins, Lauren Rendon, Melody Rendon, Charlie Davis, Jon Tyler, Kalen Tyler; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jason Hawkins, Justin Hawkins, Kalen Tyler, Jon Tyler, Lee Green, Ryan Hawkins, Charlie Davis, Clinton Hawkins and Bill Henderson.


Margaret LaNelle “Nelle” McLane

Funeral services for Margaret LaNelle “Nelle” McLane, 80, of Frankston, were held Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at Autry Funeral Home chapel, Frankston with J. A. Griffin and Chris White officiating.

Burial was held at Wofford Cemetery, Frankston.

Miss McLane passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in Frankston.

She was born Nov. 8, 1931 in Frankston,.

Miss McLane was a member of the Church of Christ, Frankston, and worked for The Frankston Citizen for 42 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Thelma McLane and brother, Monroe McLane.

Survivors include brothers Richard McLane and wife Shirley of Frankston, A. L. McLane and wife Jean of South Carolina and Gordon McLane and wife Paula of Frankston; sister Joyce Delaney of Mesquite; sister-in-law Gloria McLane of Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Dennis McLane, Bradley McLane, Joe McLane, Rocky Yarbrough, Charles Garrett and Joe Tindel.


Robert Johns

Graveside services for Robert Johns, 53, of Frankston, were held Friday, Dec. 2, at Frankston City Cemetery with Davy Carter officiating.

Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mr. Johns passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 in Lawton, Okla.

He was born August 26, 1958 in Dallas.

Survivors include brother and sister-in-law Bill and Misty Johns of Frankston; sister, Sue Johns-Barr and Jerry Whale of Winchester, VA; friend, Fred Warden of Lawton, OK; and several nieces and nephews.


Carmie Burrow Wilson

Graveside services for Carmie Burrow Wilson, 92, a resident of Berryville for almost three decades, were held on Nov. 26.

She was buried at Crawford Cemetery in the Slocum area with George Folmar officiating under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilson died Nov. 22 in Frankston.

She was born July 1, 1919, in Slocum to John Thomas and Dola Mae Crawford Burrow. She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Berryville.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Wilson, in 1997; and two sons, Carroll Gene Dear and Jerry Wayne Deer.

She is survived by her sister, Jo Sachitano of Frankston, and her cousins.


David Wayne Howell Sr.

On Dec. 6, 2011, David ‘Handsome’ Wayne Howell Sr. of Frankston, passed away at the young age of 73 after a long battle with cancer in Tyler.

He was born April 29, 1938, to the late Corbit Howell and Lavada Howell-Sweat on the family farm, located west of Frankston. He was a lifelong resident of Frankston Texas. He was the 2nd oldest out of 4 brothers and 1 sister. Mr. Howell attended Frankston schools.

Whether it was a joke or an old story, there was never a dull moment around him. He was always keeping family and friends in laughs. He worked as a roughneck to provide for his wife and children. He was a teacher of hard knocks, a loving husband, wonderful father and an amazing grandfather. He was there for you when you needed him. He will be dearly missed and loved by all.

Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his father Corbit “Slim” Howell, mother Lavada Howell-Sweat, niece Cindy Dingler, brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Linda Howell, and close friend Melvin “Shag” Bizzell.

Mr. Howell is survived by his wife Martha Howell of Frankston, daughter and sons-in-law Rita and Michael Deckert of Frankston, Donna and Bill Garrow of Frankston, son David Howell Jr. of Chandler, granddaughters Maegan Deckert of Frankston, Samantha Garrow of Frankston, grandson Logan Deckert of Frankston, great-grandson Christopher Ervin Jr., brothers Charles Howell of Hallsville, James Howell of Frankston, sister Lynda Howell of Whitehouse, and a host of others.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, with his great-nephew David Dingler officiating. The family would like to thank everyone who came to visit him on his last days, and thank you for the ones who prayed and brought food to the family.


Joe Mack McMichael

Funeral services for Joe Mack McMichael, 59, of Jacksonville, were held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Hilltop Baptist Church in Berryville with the Rev. George Folmar, the Rev. Dale Jamerson, and Gary Dollarhide officiating.

Burial was at Old City Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. McMichael passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in Jacksonville.

He was born November 1, 1952, in Jacksonville, Texas.

Mr. McMichael was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Berryville and was a small engine repairman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.

Survivors include wife Brenda McMichael of Jacksonville; daughter Pam Hernandez of Jacksonville; stepson Joshua Williamson of Jacksonville; three grandchildren Krysten Dudley of Troup, Kavin Dudley of Jacksonville, and Luis Hernandez of Jacksonville; and five great-grandchildren Evie Hernandez of Troup, Alexa Dudley of Troup, Kara Dudley of Jacksonville, Kaylie Dudley of Troup and Kolby Dudley of Jacksonville.

Pallbearers were Dale Clark, William Wiggins, Danny Aber, Mark Bolton, Rodney Jayroe, David Blakeney, and Tommy Martin.

Janna Hensley

Funeral services for Janna Hensley, 33, of Frankston, were held Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Frankston with the Rev. J. A. Griffin officiating.

Burial was at Garden Oaks Memorial Park, Berryville.

Ms. Hensley passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in Berryville due to a home fire.

She was born January 1, 1978, in Houston.

Ms. Hensley was a home health caretaker.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Wilma Jo Gillespie.

Survivors include parents Frances and Perry Fontenot of Frankston; brothers Eric Fontenot and wife Lynda of Damon and Brian Fontenot of Houston; sisters Debbie Clark and husband Lee of Houston; and Carol Walker of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were her nephews.
