Kathryn “Kathy” Farmar Kennedy

A funeral service for Kathryn “Kathy” Farmar Kennedy, of Flint, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, in Frankston. Rev. Mark Kusmirek will officiate. Kathy will be laid to rest at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Columbarium, in Frankston.

A rosary and visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Kathy passed away on Dec. 10, 2021, at her home in Flint. She was born in Monroe, Louisiana on Feb. 21, 1953, to Hal W. Farmar and Bonnie Sue Tiffin Farmar Beasley. She enjoyed sports cars, and was an avid hunter, and rock and roll enthusiast.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hal W. Farmar; her mother, Bonnie Sue Tiffin Farmar Beasley; and her sister, Deborah Sue Farmar.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Kennedy, of Flint; her brother, Steve Farmar, and his wife Donna Farmar, of Garland; her nephew, Ryan Farmar, and his wife Vania Farmar, of Garland; her nephew, Kyle Farmar, of Garland; her step-mother, Mary Farmar, of Jonesboro, LA; her uncle, David Tiffin, of Coppell; her life-long friend of 60 plus years, Debbie Smith and her husband, Michael Smith, of Conroe. She is also survived by her niece, Leslie Penny Smith, and her husband Michael Smith, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her brother-in law, Richard Kennedy, and his wife, Gayle Kennedy, from Chipley, Florida; her stepson, Marty Kennedy, of Houston; her stepdaughter, Kristine Kennedy, of Baton Rouge, LA; her stepdaughter, Kim Schwartz, and her husband Mick Schwartz, of Lottie, LA; her stepson, Robert Kennedy Jr. and his wife Jill Kennedy, of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Martin Victor Kennedy Jr., of Houston; Skyleigh Schwartz, of Lottie, LA; Haleigh Schwartz, of Baton Rouge, LA; Ann Catherine Kennedy, of New Orleans, LA; and Addison Claire Kennedy, of Shreveport, LA; and her great-grandchildren, Starlette Charrier and Orion Schwartz.

Kathy was a clinical social worker for 40 years. She passed away approximately three years after being diagnosed with ALS. She would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and care-givers who assisted her this past three plus years. In particular, she would like to thank Sue Owen and her husband, Buzz Owen, of Jacksonville; Amanda “Aunt Sally” Rogers; and Donna Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Steve Farmar, Ryan Farmar, Kyle Farmar, Martin Victor Kennedy Jr., Marty Kennedy, and Robert Kennedy Jr.

The family asks that you make a donation in the name of Kathryn Farmar Kennedy to either St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Frankston or the ALS Association.

Terry Bayne Bacon, Sr.

Terry Wayne Bacon, Sr. passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, surrounded by family. He was born on March 26, 1937, in Frankston, in a log cabin built by his parents, Alfred Henry and Mable Weesner Bacon.

A fourth-generation Texan, he grew up surrounded by a large extended family which served to foster his love for family history and family gatherings.  

In 1956 he married his high school sweetheart, Billie Doris Horn, and shortly after moved to West Texas where he and Billie raised their family. Terry was a farmer and rancher, growing cotton and hay, and raising cattle, pigs and sheep.  He loved the land and loved the wide-open spaces. Terry and Billie were blessed with five children, each of whom learned to drive tractors, hoe cotton and move pipeline in the fields.  All the children currently live in the city.

One of Terry’s greatest pleasures was enjoying music with his family. Family music time was a staple in the Bacon household, and a favorite at family gatherings, church and community events.  It was common at these gatherings for the music time to include the old standards “Daddy Sang Bass” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” with Terry singing the part of Johnny Cash (and Billie was the ‘mama’ who ‘sang tenor’).

After the children were grown, Terry and Billie moved back to Frankston where they opened and operated the 7-B Ranch Restaurant. Terry loved restaurant life — cooking great barbecue, fish night, greeting guests and channeling his inner John Wayne. He operated the restaurant until his retirement in 2018.

He loved “Gunsmoke”, a good Elmer Kelton novel, knew every John Wayne movie by heart, and driving through the country to look at farms and cattle.

Terry is survived by his precious wife of 65 years, Billie Doris; his sister, May Jean Hughes of Abilene; his son Terry Bayne Bacon, Jr. of Brisbane, Australia, and wife Seamus; daughter Tammy Layne Hays of Georgetown, husband David and children Rebecca Barho (Ty), Andrew Hays (Haleigh), Evan Hays (Whitney), and Ben Hays (Amy); daughter Sherry Dayne Otto of  Georgetown, husband Jay and children Spencer Otto and Lily Janney (James); daughter Melissa Jayne McKinney of Round Rock, husband Bo and children Annie Collins (Tyler), Kathryn Henson (Josh) and Laura Mears (Ryan); daughter Jennifer Shayne Galey of Lubbock,  husband Joe and children Jessica Parkey (Eric), Jerrica Watson (Ryan) and Joseph Galey (Libby).  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-grands on the way.

Family and friends were invited to gather on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas for visitation at 9 a.m. followed by a service to honor his life at 10 a.m. Burial followed at 4 p.m. at Frankston City Cemetery.
