Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

James Harley

PAYNE SPRINGS — Funeral services for James Harley, 71, of Payne Springs, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating.

Burial was in Wofford Cemetery near Frankston.

Mr. Harley died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at his residence.

He was born April 21, 1932 in Frankston. He was a paint contractor and a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Harley of Payne Springs, Dennis Harley and Tommy Dale Harley, both of Shreveport, La.; three daughters, Lynn Pelham of Payne Springs, Peggy Harley and Debbie Harley, both of Shreveport, La.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rickey Harley, Dwayne Cawart, Brad Upmore, Johnny Garner, Dusty Lagharn and Paul Pelham.

Ruby Lee Miller

CUNEY — Funeral services for Ruby Lee Miller, 91, of Cuney were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Rock Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Delbert Simpson and Derry G. Hinton officiating.

Burial was in Rock Hill Cemetery under direction of Williams Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mrs. Miller died Saturday, Jan 24, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born May 3, 1912, in Upshur County and attended Upshur and Anderson Counties public schools.

Mrs. Miller was a retired housewife and member of Rock Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Merecedes Johnson of Cuney; five grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Richard Warren, Keith Slaughter, Richard Patton, Billy Robertson, James Allen and Roger Boykins.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons and friends of Rock Hill Baptist Church.

George A. Morgan

George A. Morgan, 95, of Frankston, formerly of Riverside, Calif. died Sunday, Jan. 25 in a Frankston nursing home.

He was born July 7, 1908 in McKinney, and was a member of Frankston Church of Christ.

Mr. Morgan lived in Frankston since 1972 and had formerly lived in Mira Loma, Calif. where he worked as a professional gardener.

He was preceded in death by two step sons, Earl Lane and J.D. Lane.

Thompson Funeral Home of Frankston was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Viola Morgan of Kenmore, Wash.; sons, Gerald W. Morgan and wife, Wanda of Baxter Springs, Kan., James Morgan and wife, Mary L. of Yucua Valley, Calif., Bryan J. Morgan and wife, Edith A. of Siloam Springs, Ark.; daughters, Laura D. Ramos of Citrus Heights, Calif., Mildred Bernice (Billie) Elgin of Long Beach, Calif and Patsy R. Formineck of Reno, Nev.; step-daughters, Judy Boatman of Tyler, Rita Cotte of Seattle, Wash., a step-son, Rocky Lane Sr. of Frankston; a brother, Earl Morgan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren,numerous great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmie Erlene Dailey

POYNOR — Funeral services for Jimmie Erlene Dailey, 74, of Poynor were held at Thompson Funeral Home in Frankston on Monday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Davis officiating.

Burial was in the Poynor Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Dailey died Saturday, Feb. 7 in an Athens hospital.

She was born July 2, 1929 in Crane and was a housewife. Mrs. Dailey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Poynor.

Mrs. Dailey was preceded in death by her parents, James F. Richardson and Clara B. Richardson; and a grandson, Travis Dailey.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby O. Dailey of Poynor; sons, Michael Dean Dailey and wife Darlene of New London, and Patrick Lee Dailey and wife Julia of Spokane, Wash.; daughters, Vickie Y. Green and husband Roy of Tyler, Cynthia Ann Frausto and husband Bobby of Berryville; sisters, Rosemary Jones of Houston; and six grandchildren, including Rachel McCallum, formerly of Berryville, and Renae Frausto of Berryville.

Pallbearers were Buzz Sides, W.L Bonds, Bryan Ramsey, Mark Abendroth, John Robert Pagitt, Keith Bristow, Eugene Etheredge and Jimmy Westbrook.

Sarah Faye Francis

DOGWOOD CITY — Funeral services for Sarah Faye Francis, 82, of Dogwood City were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Thompson Funeral Home in Frankston.

Burial was at Chapel Wood Cemetery in Nash, Texas at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12.

Mrs. Francis died Sunday, Feb. 8 at her residence in Dogwood City.

She was born March 10, 1923 in Arkadelphia, Ark. Mrs. Francis retired from County Hospital in San Bernadino, Calif. as a nurse’s assistant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Francis; and a sister, Leora Fisher.

Survivors include a son, Tony Francis of Oregon City, Oregon; a daughter, Marchia Jonansen of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a brother, Smith Gore of Mesquite; and a sister, Dellane Gagne of Dallas; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Steve Johnansen, Tony Francis, Jerry Francis and Gene Jesstes.

Thula Goodman

Funeral services for Thula Goodman, 88, of Palestine and formerly of Brushy Creek near Frankston, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Thompson Funeral Home chapel in Frankston with Rev. Richard Creech and Rev. Lowell Schochler officiating.

Burial was in the Frankston City Cemetery.

Mrs. Goodman died Friday, Feb. 6, at her home in the Lone Pine Community of Palestine where she had lived for the past 16 years. She was a member of the Lone Pine Baptist Church.

She was born Thula Frances Robertson on Jan. 25, 1916 in Malakoff. She married R.J. Goodman on Sept. 21, 1935 in Pert and they lived 50 years on their farm/ranch near Brushy Creek. The Goodmans farmed until around 1953 when he joined the Texas Highway Department in Palestine, and Mrs. Goodman became a sewing machine operator at the garment factory in Palestine. They retired about 1975.

Mrs. Goodman was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Goodman on March 21, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Goodman and wife Donna of Frankston, and Jerrold Goodman and wife Margaret of Houston; a brother, D.K. Robertson and wife Bobbie of Palestine; three sisters, Thera Bragg of Palestine, Rachel Harrington of Alvin, and Nedra Gray and husband Ben of El Paso; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

William W. “Buster” Jones

Funeral services for William W. “Buster” Jones, 92, of Frankston were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Frankston Assembly of God with Rev. J.A. Griffin and Rev. Mark Pedersen officiating.

Burial was at the Liberty Hill Cemetery near Frankston under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Jones died Tuesday, Feb 10, at his residence.

He was born June 27, 1911 in Anderson County, Texas.

Mr. Jones was a retired employee of Upper Neches River Water Authority. He was a member of Frankston Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Jones; sons, Tommy Jones and Robert Dan Jones; and sisters, Mae Shelton and Mammie McNeil.

Survivors include his wife, Lorena Vay Jones of Frankston; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Rex Terrell, Hazel and R.J. Grubbs, Barbara and Melvin (Shag) Bizzell, Pat and Ronnie Henderson, all of Frankston; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin (Shag) and Barbara Bizzell, Jerry and Joni Jones, Steve and Gail Jones, Mike Jones and Johnnie Jones, all of Frankston; 23 grandchildren, 47 great- grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

Pallbearers were Jerry Beasley, Bill Harden, Dan Hunter, Carl House, Dan Wicker and Jerry Boles.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Lee Fisher, Leslie Wells, Charles Parrott, Herbert Riley, Pete Westbrook and Wayne Rogers.

Bonnie Lou Stewart

NECHES — Funeral services for Bonnie Lou Stewart, 69, of Tyler, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at First Baptist Church of Neches with Rev. Charles Grasty officiating.

Burial was in Dabbs Cemetery under direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mrs. Stewart died Thursday, Feb. 5, in Tyler.

She was born March 26, 1934 in Frankston. She graduated from Frankston High School with the Class of 1952. In July of 1952 she and “Cliff” Stewart were married. She was a homemaker and a member of Dean Baptist Church of Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Collins; her mother, Eura Mae Baker; and a brother, Robert E. Collins.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Marlin Clifford Stewart of Tyler; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wilson and Carolyn Stewart of Terrell, and Danny and Wanda Stewart of Tyler; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two step-brothers and their wives, Kara and Gale Baker of Greenville, and Morris and Loretta Baker of Frankston; a step-sister and her husband, Marylyn and Doug Dixon of Dallas.

Rev. John Rose

CUNEY — Funeral services for the Rev. John Willie Rose, 76, of Cuney were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 at Mount Providence Baptist Church of Athens with the Rev. Simpson officiating.

Burial was in North Athens Cemetery, Henderson County, under direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Rev. Rose died Thursday, Feb. 5, in Athens

He was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Frankston to the late Willie and Lucy Easley Rose. Rev. Rose served in the Army, and was owner and operator of Rose Janitor Service for 27 years. He was a Baptist minister for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Mattie Rose and Hattie Garbiel; and a brother, Frank Rose.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Evelyn L. Rivers Rose of Cuney; a daughter, Dianne Rose of Athens; a brother, George Washington Rose of Athens; a sister, Shelia Hurd of Athens; three grandchildren and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Mark Williams, Benny Warren Jr., Lonnie Eldridge, Jerry Boyd, Ricky Burks, Tommy Lee Preston and Fred Burks.

B.J. Oliver

Funeral services for B.J. Oliver, 69, of Gladewater were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating.

Burial was at the Wofford Cemetery near Frankston.

Mr. Oliver died Wednesday, Feb. 18, in a Longview hospital.

He was born March 31, 1934 in Frankston. He was an overland truck driver and a Methodist.

Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Oliver; a son, David Oliver; a brother, Arnold Oliver; and sisters, Catherine Jackson and Cindy Cole.

Survivors include sons, Billy Jack Oliver Jr. and Bryan Oliver, both of Irving; a daughter, Elizabeth Chapman of Irving; brothers, Albert Oliver of Harwood, J.R. Oliver of Paris, Wayne Oliver of Ashtown, Ark. and Horace Oliver of Wolfe City; sisters, Ruby Tarlton of Mabank, Jewel Townsend of Fort Worth, Pat Wright of Euless and June Fritz of Seven Points; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bryan Oliver, Daniel Chapman, Horace Oliver, Stanley Chapman, Ricky Oliver and Lesley Fritz.
