Frankie Lee Westbrook

Funeral services for Frankie Lee Westbrook, 78, Frankston, were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at First Baptist Church, Frankston with the Revs. Randy Wallace and J.A. Griffin officiating.

Burial was in Frankston City Cemetery under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Westbrook died Saturday, Dec. 25.

She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Frankston and was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Westbrook was a retired schoolteacher, teaching 20 years in Jacksonville Independent School District. She was a substitute school teacher in Frankston ISD for 12 years.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, First Baptist Church, Frankston, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years, and a supporter of Women's Missionary Union.

Mrs. Westbrook helped establish Frankston Depot Library and Museum and was a past president of the board of directors. She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution and East Texas Quilters Guild.

Survivors include her husband, Pete Westbrook, Frankston; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Cathey Westbrook, Frankston; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Jesse Hickman, Palestine; two sisters, Mary Coker, Frankston, and Juanelda Quick, Palestine; four grandchildren, Kevin Westbrook, Keith Westbrook, Aaron Hickman and Andrea Lowe; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Keith Westbrook, Kevin Westbrook, Bill Westbrook, Aaron Hickman, Cliff Lowe, David Coker, Johnny Taylor and Paul Truitt.

Patsy Quick

PALESTINE - Graveside services for Patsy Ann Quick, 76, of Palestine, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Olive Branch Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Willmont officiating under direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Miss Quick, died Sunday, Dec. 26, in a Palestine hospital.

She was born Nov. 4, 1923 in Elmwood community to the late John Lewis and Pearl Chandler Quick.

Miss Quick was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mable Kent and Laura Bell Hanson, and brothers, Keith Quick, John C. Quick, Ben Quick and Ike Quick.

Survivors include sister, Virginia Quick, Elmwood; and brother, Chester Quick, Palestine.

Delmer Hilton

LARUE - Funeral services for Delmer Allen Hilton, 65, LaRue, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, at Foster & Brown Funeral Home chapel, Athens, with the Rev. Jeff Godwin officiating. Burial was in Midway Cemetery.

Mr. Hilton died Thursday, Dec. 30, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Rosebud to the late A.C. and Dathne Burke Hilton.

Mr. Hilton served in the Army and retired from Texas Department of Transportation after 22 years service.

He was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 25 years.

Mr. Hilton was preceded in death by a son, Darren Hilton; two brothers, G.C Hilton and West Hilton; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elois Hilton; sons and daughters-in-law, John Ray and Pat Hilton, Tommy and Amy Hilton, Jason and Tammy Hilton, and Tony Hilton, all of LaRue; daughters and sons-in-law, Dee and Donnie Davis of Poynor, and Daphne and Danny Johannes of LaRue; brother, David Hilton of Payne Springs; sister, Marie Maze of Athens; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tony Hilton, Tommy Hilton, John Ray Hilton, Donnie Davis, Kenneth Johannes and Danny Johannes.

Honorary pallbearers were James Loden, Kenneth Hilton, Damon Davis, Bobby Siritanapivat, Cody Davis, Tony Hilton Jr. and Frank McCallum.

Sybil Milner

PALESTINE - Funeral services for Sybil Milner, 80, of Palestine, were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at Crockett Road Church of Christ with Dan Manuel officiating.

Burial was in Poynor Cemetery under direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mrs. Milner died Thursday, Dec. 23, at her residence.

She was born April 21, 1919, in Palestine to the late John and Jane Massey Gay.

Mrs. Milner was a homemaker and charter member of Crockett Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Earl H. Milner, Palestine; daughter, Carol Ann Cartwright, League City; son, Earl Milner, Rockwall; sister, Berta Hammonds, Fort Worth; brothers, Winfred Gay, Washington, D.C., and Ed Gay, Bay City; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Dale Sparks, Don Bell, David Sparks, Lee Prince, Kyle Lock, Scott Johnson, Donnie Fincher and Robert Perry.

Honorary pallbearers were Clifford Dotson, Tom Dunbar, Henry Baker, Dwight Franklin and Tom Watson.

Donalene Story

Funeral services for Donalene Story, 77, of Frankston were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, Frankston, with John Story officiating.

Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Story died Saturday, Jan. 1.

She was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Old Glory to the late Earl and Gladys Davis and was a librarian.

Mrs. Story was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5073 Ladies Auxiliary in Frankston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Story Sr.; brother, Randall Davis; and sisters, Mozelle Cox, Naomi Sleez and Doris Simes.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Gail Story of Olney, and Carl and Mayumi Story of Frankston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Jimmy Speck of Overton, and Myrna and Don Goodson of Longview; three brothers, Jack Davis of Troup, Joe Ed Davis of Lubbock, and J.C. Davis of Archer; four sisters, Monita Rodden, California, Glenda Harrington, Oregon, Phyllis McNally, Rochester, TX, and Ila Mae Davis, San Antonio; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Sammy Keene, John Story II, Carl John Story, Greg Stutez, Jim Dees and Brad McLane.

Judy Brasher

Mass for Judy Brasher, 58, of Frankston was celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palestine, with the Rev. Michael Francis officiating.

Burial was in Frankston City Cemetery under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Brasher died Thursday, Dec. 30, in a Palestine hospital.

She was born Aug. 23, 1941, in Mabank. She was a homemaker and member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Garland.

Survivors include her husband, W.C. Brasher, Frankston; sons, John Brasher and Bill Brasher, both of Dallas; daughter, Lee Ann Haynes, Rowlett; brothers, Lewis Dover, Canton, and Ronnye Jackson, Payne Springs; six great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Pallbearers were Horace Morton, Bill Clanton, Bill Owens, Bobby Walker, Pete Bruener and Johnny Richardson.

Dorothy Williams

LARUE - Funeral services for Dorothy J. Williams, 74, of LaRue were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at Foster and Brown Funeral Home chapel in Athens, with the Rev. Matthew Thomas and Jack Mills officiating.

Burial was in LaRue Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams died Friday, Dec. 31.

She was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Rosston, Ark., to the late Barney Harrell Dillard and Annie Esther Conger.

She moved to Texas in 1943 and LaRue in 1960.

Mrs. Williams retired from First State Bank of Athens after 35 years service and was a member of LaRue United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Dillard.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, B.W. Williams, LaRue; daughters, Lynda Hodges, Frankston, Candice Countryman, Kaufman, and Gwenith McGlaunn, Athens; son, Bruce Williams, LaRue; brother, Donald Dillard, Vidor; sisters, Vonice Baker, Pearland, Carolyn McNeely, Vidor, and Clara Powell, Silsbee; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Scott Reynolds, Shawn Reynolds, Christopher Pickens, James Hodges IV, Chris Hodges and Mario Artega.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Hayden Miller and Joel Wilson.

Elder James Lewis

Funeral services for Elder James W. Lewis, 59, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder John Warren and Bishop Robert Davis officiating.

Burial was in Pine Springs Cemetery, Frankston under direction of Community Funeral Home of Tyler.

Mr. Lewis died Friday, Dec. 24, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born May 18, 1940 in Waxahachie to the late Allen and Juanita Lewis and attended Oaklawn Elementary School and Turner High School.

Mr. Lewis served in the Army and lived in Waxahachie, Denver, Colo., and Los Angeles, Calif., prior to moving to Frankston in 1997. He was owner of Lewis & Son Trucking Co. and a member of Memorial Temple COGICOT.

Survivors include his wife, Inell Dixon Lewis, Frankston; sons, James Lewis Jr., Los Angeles, Calif., Corey Lewis, San Diego, Calif., and Jimmy Lewis Sr., Jacksonville; daughters, Jametta Foster and Jamye Theresa Lewis, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Nita Lewis, San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Howard Lewis, Oakland, Calif., and George Lewis, Los Angeles, Calif.; sisters, Flora Coney, Denver, Colo., Jose Lewis-Harris and C.L. Lewis, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Ali Lacey, Richardson, and Debbie Lewis, Waxahachie; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Howard Lewis, George Lewis, Jimmy Lewis Sr., John Butler, Louis Lacy Sr. and Robert Williams.

'Smokey' Ethredge

Graveside services for Noble Curtis "Smokey" Ethredge, 78, of Poynor were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Garden Oaks Memorial Park, Berryville, with the Rev. Jeff Godwin officiating, under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Ethredge died Friday, Jan., 7, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Cotton Valley, La.

Mr. Ethredge was a mechanic and welder with Hunt Oil Co. and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ethredge.

Survivors include a son, Eugene Ethredge, Poynor; daughters, Charlotte Ethridge, Poynor, and Marcia Stallings, Kilgore; sisters, Sybil Lorene Brister, Dubberly, La., and Julia Lee Hagan, Benton, La.; brothers, Charlie Ethridge Jr., Minden, La., and Johnny Ethridge, Fort Worth; four granddaughters, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

H. Lee Luke Jr.

A memorial service for H. Lee Luke Jr., 73, of Frankston was held Friday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 4900 Kinsey Drive, Tyler, with Rev. Tom Anderson officiating.

Local arrangements were under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Luke died Friday, Jan 7, at Harris Hospital in Bedford.

He was born Oct. 22, 1926 in Hellan, Pa., to Harry Lee Luke Sr. and Maude Mason Luke.

Mr. Luke grew up in Virginia and lived in North Carolina, South Carolina and Arkansas before settling in Texas. After his retirement he moved to Lake Palestine and worked part time at the Wal Mart Photography department in Jacksonville.

He served in the United States Army 377th Infantry Regiment. Mr. Luke attended National Business College and majored in engineering at the College of William and Mary. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Tyler.

Mr. Luke was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Pauline D. Luke. He is survived by his wife, Delois R. Luke of Frankston; daughters, Susan L. Gibson of Plymouth, Mass., Judith L. Jordan and son-in-law, Wendell of Marion, Mass.; sons, Alexander L. Luke and daughter-in-law, Karen, of Chicago, Jimmy Halford and daughter-in-law, Fay J., of Columbia, S.C.; step-children, Betty H. Jones and husband, Bobby, of Leesville, S.C., Judy Gerber and husband, Steve, of Bedford, Samuel T. Rountree of Midlothian; sister, Hazel L. Clary, Greensboro, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or the American Heart Assn.

John Boone Paris

Funeral for John Boone Paris, 85, of Jacksonville was held Wednesday, Jan. 12 in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Grady Higgs officiating.

Burial was at the Wofford Cemetery in Frankston.

Mr. Paris died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000 in a Jacksonville hospital. He was born March 6, 1914 in Jacksonville.

He was retired from Trailways Bus Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 108 in Jacksonville.

Survivors include his wife, Raberta Marilan Paris, Jacksonville; a son, Danny Boone Paris and wife, Elizabeth, Houston; daughters, Wanda Joy Robison and husband, Marvin, Jacksonville and Charlotte Ann Cossey, Galena Park; a sister, Ambanez Snowden and husband Roy, Houston; five grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be the deacons of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the First Baptist Church, Jacksonville and members of the Men's Bible Class of the First Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

Memorials can be made to the building fund, First Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

Jalinda W. Bryant

Funeral services for Ms. Jalinda Wolsiefer Bryant, 53, of Fort Worth, formerly of Frankston and Los Angeles, Calif., were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Thompson Funeral Home chapel, Frankston, with the Rev. Randall Thomas officiating.

Burial was in Old Bethel Cemetery in Frankston.

Ms. Bryant died Wednesday, Jan. 5, in Fort Worth.

She was born Jan. 15, 1946, in Frankston and was a banquet captain for Marriott Hotel, D/FW Airport, for 13 years.

Ms. Bryant was preceded in death by her father, Barnard Anthony Wolsiefer; grandmother, Zeliah L. Ellis; and grandfather, Levi M. Ellis.

Survivors include her mother, Darlene Ellis Norberg, Flint; daughter, Tammy L. Bryant, Fort Worth; two grandsons, and several aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Ellis, Max Ellis, Zackery Ellis, Farris Ellis, Zane Rhoads and Troy Townsley.

Rosie Mack

LARUE - Funeral services for Rosie Mack, 94, of LaRue, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Bethel AME Church, LaRue, with Superintendent H.P. Jordan officiating.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mrs. Mack died Saturday, Jan. 1, in an Athens hospital.

She was born July 15, 1905, in Henderson County and attended Bethel Public Schools.

Mrs. Mack was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, a dietitian, member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, mother of the church and Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, three brothers, and three grandsons.

Survivors include Bishop William T. Smith and Albert Mack, both of Dallas; daughter, Elgeree Moore, Moore Station; brother, Jimmy Chambers Sr., Athens; sisters, Laura Cumby, Moore Station and Eliza Johnson, Pleasant Ridge; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gene Cal Johnson, Edward Walker, Irvin Smith, Alvin Smith, Anthony Duffey, Anthony Wafer and Tismond Wafer.

James M. Bloxom

Funeral services for James M. Bloxom, 75, of Frankston were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at First Baptist Church, Frankston, with the Revs. Louie Barron and Randy Wallace officiating.

Burial was in Frankston City Cemetery under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Bloxom died Saturday, Jan. 22, in an Athens hospital.

He was born May 28, 1924, in Frankston and was a lifelong resident.

Mr. Bloxom served in the Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War in a German POW camp. He retired as a rural carrier for the Postal Service and was an electrician.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Frankston, life member of William Foster Masonic Lodge of Frankston and member of East Texas Chapter of Ex-American POWs. He also served as a member of the Frankston ISD Board of Trustees and was president of the board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fairy Lee (Sweetie) Bloxom.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Bloxom, Mancos, Colo.; a daughter, Brenda Jaggers, Frankston; a brother, Raymond E. "Bub" Bloxom, Lake Frankston; a special family friend, Mickye Bristow; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were T.J. Coker, Bill Hyde, T.L. Beard, Troy House, Billy Jack Dunklin, Jimmy Dan Dunklin, Jim Bloxom and James McLane.

Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Bristow, Keith Bristow, John Saunders, Tony Campbell, Bill Alexander, Jerry Gideon, Preston Dickerson, Jerry Beard and Ex-American POWs.

'Tommy' Scott

LARUE - Graveside services for Thomas C. "Tommy" Scott, 67, of LaRue, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, DeSoto, with the Rev. Wade Johnson officiating under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

Mr. Scott died Sunday, Jan. 23.

He was born June 9, 1932, in Roxton to the late Jim and Thelma Brown Scott.

Mr. Scott retired in 1987 from Ling-Temco-Vought after 31 years.

He lived in Red Oak for 10 years before moving to LaRue six years ago. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by a son, Randy Scott; and brothers, Bo Scott and Richard Scott.

Survivors include wife, Nelda Scott, LaRue; son, Rickey Scott, Van; brother, Jo Scott, Roxton; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Adell Hurd

Funeral services for Adell Hurd, 76, of Frankston were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Myrtle Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. A.C. Fisher officiating.

Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Frankston, under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mrs. Hurd died Wednesday, Jan. 19, in Palestine.

She was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Frankston and was a lifelong resident of Anderson County.

Mrs. Hurd attended school in Pleasant Hill community and was a homemaker and member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary and was a mother of the church, and member of Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include sons, Lonnie Hurd and Arthur Hurd, both of Athens, Earl B. Hurd, Coffee City, Roger W. Hurd, Frankston, and George Warren, Dallas; daughters, Venora Bagley, Dallas, Hazel Dora and Teresa Hurd, both of Athens, Ruthie Warren, Chandler, Vernetta Hall and Lisa Harmon, both of Frankston; brothers, Charlie Donnell and J.B. Donnell, both of Frankston; 32 grandchildren; and 32 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church.
