Ressie Hargett Thompson

Funeral services for Ressie Hargett Thompson, 81, of Russellville, Ala. were held Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. at Spry Chapel of Russellville, with Bro. Eddie Jacobs officiating.

Burial was in Ramsey Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Spry Chapel of Russellville.

Mrs. Thompson was a sister of the late Mazie Ebbert Smith of Frankston, and spent many summers in Frankston in the home of Joe and Mary Beard.

Survivors include a sister, Louise Pruett; two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

John R. "Freck" Forester

LARUE - Funeral services for John R. "Freck" Forester, 42, of LaRue, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, at First Baptist Church in Poynor with the Rev. Jeff Godwin officiating.

Burial was in Poynor Cemetery under direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home, Mabank.

Mr. Forester died Monday, May 7, in Henderson County.

He was born Feb. 14, 1959 in Tyler. He was a cattleman.

Survivors include his wife, Kim Forester, Elkhart; a daughter, Courtnee Forester, Cross Roads; parents, John and Anita Forester, LaRue; a sister, Karen Albritton, Fort Worth; a brother, Randy Forester, LaRue; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Gary Almon, Keith Bristow, Ben Cornelius, Larry Dickerson, Breck Dodd and Chris Holman.

B.W. Williams

Funeral services for B.W. Williams, 74, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, in the chapel of Foster and Brown Funeral Home of Athens with the Revs. Edwin McDaniels and Matthew Thomas officiating.

Burial was in LaRue Cemetery under the direction of Foster and Brown Funeral Home, Athens.

Mr. Williams died Wednesday, May 2, in Athens.

He was born July 16, 1926 in LaRue to Bruce and Lenna Nettles Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Dorothy V. Williams, Dec. 1999; and a granddaughter, Laura Lamb.

Mr. Williams was a farmer and rancher.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Lynda Williams of LaRue; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and James Hodges of Frankston, Candace and Johnny Countryman of Kaufman, and Gwenith and Billy McGlaun of Murchison; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma Joyce and Virgil Hall of Athens; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Raymond Stafford

Funeral services for Raymond Stafford, 84, of Frankston were held Monday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Zach Kunnakkattulhara officiating.

Burial was in Broyles Chapel Cemetery in Palestine.

Mr. Stafford died Friday, May 11, in Tyler.

He was born July 19, 1916 in Palestine.

Mr. Stafford was a welder supervisor and was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Stafford; parents, Ed and Emma Stafford; and a brother, Gene Stafford.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret J. Stafford of Frankston; a daughter, Janice Collins of Spring; and a grandson, Johnny Ray Wagner.

Pallbearers were Roger Culland, Seaman Neeley, Charles Hoffman, Don Comm, Tom Lynn, Lynn Howard, Bob Wright, and W.C. Brasher.

Honorary pallbearers were Sig Johnson, Lymon Moreland, Martin Cameron, James Jones, Larry Lutz, Bill Ferguson, Joe McLane, Dick Orchard, Jerry Beard and members of his Sunday School Class of United Methodist Church in Frankston, Jim York, Wayne Padgett, Michael Elrod, Bill Blakney, Jim Yezak, Ken Riddle and Dennis Skarda.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas or church building fund at St. Charles Catholic Church, Frankston.

Ray Spencer Perry Jr.

Private services for Ray Spencer Perry Jr., 62, of Frankston, formerly of Houston, were held in Frankston under direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Frankston.

Mr. Perry died Thursday, May 10, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 22, 1938 in Dallas.

Mr. Perry was a realtor and accountant, and was a Baptist. He had served in the U.S. Marines.

Survivors include a son, Ray Spencer Perry III of Houston; brothers, Jack Frank Perry of Frankston and John Carroll Perry of Houston; several grandchildren, aunts, nephews and cousins; and a friend, Geneva Kincade.

Gladys Bearden

LONGBRANCH - Graveside services for Gladys Bearden 95, of Cleburne, formerly of Frankston, were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, at Rest Haven Cemetery, Jacksonville, with the Rev. Robert Christopher officiating.

Mrs. Bearden died Wednesday, May 16, in a Fort Worth hospital.

She was born Oct. 4, 1905, in Longbranch and lived in Cleburne for 27 years.

Mrs. Bearden was an employee of K. Wolen's Department Store in Frankston for several years, a retired doll maker and member of First Baptist Church, Cleburne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Bearden, and sisters, Anna Bell Tanner, Rosalie Murphy and Loise Patterson.

Elva Flanagan

LARUE - Funeral services for Elva Flanagan, 72, of LaRue, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel, Corsicana, with the Rev. Larry Robbins officiating.

Burial was in Dawson Cemetery.

Mrs. Flanagan died Sunday, May 20.

She was born June 5, 1928, in Purdon to the late Johnson McKinnley and Hester Widener. She was a nurse's aide.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Flanagan, LaRue; daughters, Citti Flanagan, LaRue, Jenie Flanagan, Colorado; son, Grady Griggs, LaRue; sister, Bettye Jo Oldham, Murchison; one grandson; two nephews and one niece.

Pallbearers were Joey Allen, Harry Dryman, Pat Eubank, Kevin Graham, T.K. Lloyd, Leslie Newman and Ed Vaughn.

Betty Jo Tarrant

LARUE - Graveside services for Betty Jo Denny Tarrant, 89, Athens, were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at LaRue Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Hustin officiating, under direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home, Athens.

Mrs. Tarrant died Thursday, May 24, in Athens.

She was born May 10, 1912 in Moody to the late Jessie and Lilly Henderson Denny.

Mrs. Tarrant was a member of LaRue Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member for 70 years.

She married Jim Leland Tarrant in 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She lived in LaRue before moving to Athens seven years ago.

Survivors include sons, Bobby Tarrant, LaRue, and Joe Tarrant, Poynor; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joe Paul Tarrant, Cary Tarrant, Don Tarrant, Jeffery Tarrant, Chad Tarrant, Zachary Tarrant and Jimmy Tarrant.

Foster Glenn Thomas

Graveside services for Foster Glenn Thomas, 70, Frankston, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 28, at Wofford Cemetery, Frankston, under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Thomas died Saturday, May 26, in Tyler.

He was born Nov. 16, 1930 in Kemp.

He was a former resident of Irving for 37 years before moving to Frankston.

Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a superintendent for an excavation company and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Thomas of Frankston; daughter, Patti Jones of Fort Worth; mother, Mary Lula Thomas of Malakoff; sister, Eugenia Jordan of Malakoff; brothers, Bobby Thomas of Athens, and Aubry Thomas of Goodrich; brother-in-law, Joe M. and Birdie Coleman of Bridge City; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Bacon, Dr. R.A. Lester III and Audrey Robison.

James Cofer

LARUE - Funeral services for James Ray Cofer, 35, of Houston, formerly of LaRue, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Union Station AME church with Eldress Mary Henderson officiating.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mr. Cofer died Wednesday, May 16, in a Houston hospital.

He was born Dec. 1, 1965, in Smith County and attended Brownsboro schools.

Mr. Cofer lived in LaRue before moving to Houston five years ago. He was a former employee of Curtis Mathis and member of Duck Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnell Cofer.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Cofer of Houston; a son, Corey Parker of Houston; a daughter, Courtney Parker of Houston; parents, Willie and Evelyn Cofer of LaRue; brothers, Willie Cofer Jr. and Marcus Cofer, both of Houston, Bobby Cofer of Athens and Joe Cofer of Tyler; sisters, Barbara Pinkston, Ethel Edwards and Vera Crossgrove, all of Houston, and Lottie Cofer of Athens; and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Tony McCleveland, Chris Crossgrove, Donald Crossgrove, Ricky Hall and Alan Winters.

Honorary pallbearers were Willie Cofer Jr., Marcus Cofer, Bobby Cofer, Joe Anthony Cofer and Charles Starks.
