Donald Cecil Vaughan

Memorial services for Donald Cecil Vaughan, 72, of Ben Wheeler are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Heritage Trail Cowboy Church of Ben Wheeler with Pastor C.R. Chapman and the Rev. Leland Paris officiating.

Services will be under direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

Vaughan passed away Aug. 30, 2010 in Tyler.

He was born Dec. 31, 1937 in Sedona, Ariz. To Cecil Moten and Frances Evelyn Nicholson Vaughan.

He was a member of Heritage Trail Cowboy Church. He grew up in Arkansas and owned and operated his own business for 23 years before retiring to Ben Wheeler in 1989.

He enjoyed RV’ing, snow skiing, working on his farm, reading and gardening.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lavelle Mauldin.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Jo Vaughan of Ben Wheeler; daughter Michelle and husband Alan Titus of Frankston; son, C.D. Vaughan of Ben Wheeler; three grandsons, Shawn and Tonie Titus of Tyler, Dustin Titus of Tyler, Haydn Titus of Tyler; one great granddaughter, Jordyn Titus of Tyler; and sister, Vernelle Hollingsworth of Springdale, AR.

Ethel Rae ‘Mutt’ Beard Barker

A memorial service for Ethel Rae “Mutt” Beard Barker, 93, of Neches is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with Don Canter and Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Neches Cemetery.

Mrs. Barker passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Sterling House in Palestine.

She was born March 7, 1917 in Pert, Texas to Allen W. Holland and Effa Rhodes Holland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Linda Sue Beard; husbands, Jesse F. Beard and J R Barker; brother, Lloyd Holland; sisters, Gladys Moore and Elizabeth Grady.

Mrs. Barker was a devoted and loving wife and caregiver to her husbands, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a great cook and seamstress.

Most of all, her life and her actions were a living example of one who loved the Lord.

She was a member of the Church of Christ having worshipped with the Crockett Road congregation and more recently with the Frankston congregation where she worked as a volunteer with the Know Your Bible prison ministry.

After working at home in the broiler industry for 23 years, she worked in food service for 12 years at the Neches High School.

After retiring, each summer for five years, she attended the Archie Waldrum session of the Bandina Christian Youth Camp. Many will also remember her for her fried pies that were sold at Cannon’s Country Store in Neches. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by two daughters, Rae Roberson and husband Lamar, Kathleen Compton and husband Ed; step-daughter, Misty Ann Nunn; two grandsons, Roger Carroll and wife Nicole; Brent Carroll and wife Ronda; four step-grandchildren, Amanda Barker, Corty, Jaden, and Avery Nunn; six great-grand children, Amy Trigg and husband Zac; Jerrod Carroll and wife Heather; Clay Carroll and wife Karissa; Clint Carroll, Lane Carroll and Gracey Carroll; six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Faye Holland, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Roger, Brent, Jerrod, Clay, Clint, Lane and Zac Trigg. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Anders, Bernie Baur, Bob Stech, James Mosley, Owen Perry, Bennie Howard, Herbert Riley, and Lindsey Founts.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home prior to the memorial service.

Robert Fabian

Memorial services for Robert Fabian, 65, Frankston, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 9 at Hilltop Baptist Church with Bro. Steven Palmer and Bro. George Folmar officiating.

Mr. Fabian died Sept. 3, 2010 at his home.

Robert Wayne Fabian was born April 19, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Seymour and Bernice Helen Fabian.

He had lived in Frankston for 13 years, moving from Chicago. He had served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a charter bus driver.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Fabian of Frankston; two step-sons, Mike Lahren of Frankston and Chuck Lahren of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Joseph Lahren of Simi Valley, Calif., James Lahren of Simi Valley, Calif., Riley Lahren, IN, Corbin Lahren of Rapid City, SD and Vanessa Lahren of Rapid City, SD.

Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Durrett, Bill Gulihur, Everett Waldrum, Jim Pointer, Gerald Peterson, L. D. Burris and James McKinney.

If desired, memorials may be made to Hilltop Baptist Church.

Clifford Ray Lott

Services for Clifford Ray Lott, 79, of Palestine, formerly of Tyler, will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dan Manuel officiating.

Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Lott passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

He was born in Collin County, Texas on March 6, 1931 to Clifford Austin and Jewell Abbott Lott.

Ray married the love of his life, Dell Lott on Aug. 11, 1951. He was a home builder and owned a sheet metal business and retired in August of 1988. Ray loved to hunt and fish.

He was an Elder at West Erwin Church of Christ in Tyler and was currently a member of LaPoynor Church of Christ in LaRue.

Ray was a loving father and grandfather and a faithful and devoted husband for 59 years.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, son Carl Wayne Lott and brother Benny Lott.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife Dell Lott of Palestine; son, Ron Lott and wife Pam of Tyler; daughter, Brenda Kay Anderson and husband Paul of Houston; grandchildren, Ashley Anderson, Brandon Lott, Chanse Lott, Lindsey Lott and Tyler Lott and fiance’ Evelyn Keaton; very special friends H.L. and Sherry Beaubien; brother, Bobby Lott; and sisters, Della Paroline and Betty Hicks.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Jones, Milburn Cook, Stan Mallory, Charles Harris, Gene Chandler and Don Crowder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Weathers, Lowell Lewis, Glynn Starnes, Lavelle Layfield and Dr. Roger Knight.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., Tyler, Texas 75703.

Memorials may be made in honor of Ray Lott to West Erwin Church of Christ Building Fund, 420 West Erwin, Tyler, Texas 75702.

Bryson Fontenot

Bryson Tyler Fontenot, 3, the grandson of Bob and Emily Fontenot of Frankston, died in a backyard drowning accident on Sept 7, 2010, in Baton Rouge, La.

Services were Saturday, Sept. 11, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. Burial was in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

He was born September 18, 2007.

Bryson Tyler Fontenot is survived by his parents, Luke and Tiffany Fontenot, big brothers Jon Phillip Hariford and Beau Tyler Fontenot, all of Baton Rouge, and by grandparents Susan Fontenot of Baton Rouge and Bob and Emily Fontenot of Frankston. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Lee Kidd.

Bryson will be remembered always by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Delores Ashworth

Visitation for Delores Ashworth, 83, of Frankston, were scheduled Monday, September 20, 2010 at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Frankston.Mrs. Ashworth passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Frankston.

She was born May 28, 1927 in Poynor.

Mrs. Ashworth was a nanny.

She is preceded in death by her parents John Oliver Roberts and Eunice Green Roberts; brother, A. B. Roberts; sisters, Alyne Douglas and Geraldine Dees; and daughter, Doris Scruggs Jensen.

Survivors include daughters Brenda Anderson and husband Victor of Weatherford and Vicki Weddell and husband Monty of Dallas; sisters, Jonnie Burnett and husband Bobby, Sue Robison and husband Johnie of Frankston, Clarice Fincher of Frankston and Louise Shelton and husband Lloyd of Tyler; three grandchildren, Victor Anderson Jr. of Weatherford, Elizabeth Durard of Grapevine and Brad Weddell of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene Jackson

Funeral services for Gene Jackson, 71, of Lake Palestine, were held Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Frankston with the Rev. Dennis Pridgin officiating.

Burial was held at Garden Oaks Memorial Park in Berryville.

Mr. Jackson passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Tyler.

He was born March 16, 1939 in Cooper, Texas.

Mr. Jackson served with the United States Marines from 1951 – 1954, was a retired police sergeant with the Odessa Police Dept. with 30 years of service, and was a graduate of FBI Academy, Quantico, Va.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Jackson and parents Jack Jackson and Vera Gertrude Turner Jackson.

Survivors include his son Terry Jackson and wife Terri of Grapevine; daughter, Teresa Todd of Lake Palestine; sister, Peggy French of Lawton, Okla.; brother, Wink Jackson and wife Donna of Early; grandchildren, Tanner and Ashley Todd, Justin Todd, Kelton Todd, Miranda Williams and Josh Jackson; great-grandchildren, Emma Todd, Braedon Todd and Brynlea Todd; nephew, Waylon Weiershausen and special friends Herb and Ginger Graham of Odessa.

Pallbearers were Tanner Todd, Justin Todd, Kelton Todd and Josh Jackson, Roger Gearhart and Doc Gonzalez.

Edward Allison

Edward Carrington Allison, 86, brother-in-law of Frances C. Beard (Mrs. Billy J. Beard) of Frankston, was found deceased in his home in Fort Worth on Monday, Sept. 27.

A private memorial service in pending.

Mr. Allison’s wishes are that he would be cremated and his ashes spread in the family plot at Wofford Cemetery in Goodsonville Community.

“Ed was a kind, gentle-spoken man who cared about others,” said Frances Beard. “He will be missed, but he will be welcomed in heaven by God and the love of his life, Jane.”
